G-MU girls tie unbeaten Morris

(Continued)

“We had nice performances by our top two varsity runners in each gender,” OHS coach Dan Forbes said. “This past Tuesday, (Garufi) started closing on (Mushtare). On Saturday, (Garufi) went out with (Mushtare). Usually, Erin goes harder at the start, but this time Allisa went out with her and hung on.”

Oneonta’s boys also finished third. Logan Mancuso and Ryan Layman finished sixth and ninth, respectively. Mancuso crossed in 18:54 and Layman was clocked in 18:56.

“Logan and Ryan really had breakthrough races,” Forbes said. “They beat all the Chenango Valley guys who beat them in the dual meet and they beat all the Norwich guys who beat them this past Tuesday. It was two outstanding performances.”

The Yellowjackets will compete in the Loyal D. Greenman Invitational on Saturday at Ely Park in Binghamton.
