Hall to host celebration Saturday

The National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown will host its annual Holiday Celebration on Saturday.

Visitors will receive free admission Saturday with the donation of at least two non-perishable food items. All donations will support the Cooperstown Food Bank.

The day will feature a visit by Santa Claus from 11 a.m.-noon. Visitors also may make baseball-themed Christmas ornaments from noon-2 p.m. in the Hall’s Learning Center.

The Pathfinder Village Hand Bell Choir will perform in the Hall of Fame Gallery at 2 p.m., and the Hall will run a 20-minute guided tour of the Gallery starting at 3 p.m.

The Autumn Glory exhibit also will be open. It has been updated to include several artifacts from the 2013 Major League Baseball postseason, including a bat used by World Series MVP David Ortiz and the spikes worn by Red Sox closer Koji Uehara during the World Series.

Frost Bite 5K set for Dec. 31

The annual Oneonta Family YMCA Frost Bite 5K Fun Run will start at 1 p.m. Dec. 31.

Race day registration and number pick up runs from 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the YMCA. The race will begin on Market Street in Oneonta.

Pre-registration for guaranteed T-shirts ends Dec. 13.
