FIELD HOCKEY

Walton 2, Harpursville 0

Jess Fisher assisted Tamara MacDonald’s with seven minutes left in the first half and then scored five minutes later to lift host Walton to a Section Four Conference Division II victory Wednesday.

MacDonald deflected a pass from Fisher past Hornets goalie Chantel Messinger. Fisher’s goal came unassisted.

Katrina Kilmer made four saves to earn her fifth shutout of the season.

Walton (7-5, 4-4) hosts Afton today.

Sidney 3, Afton 0

Hannah Wood, Dawn Savino and Victoria Sickler scored for host Sidney, which won in the Section Four Conference.

Melia Wakeman had a pair of assists for Sidney (8-4, 7-1), which hosts Walton Friday.

CROSS COUNTRY

at Cooperstown

Samantha Fanion placed first for host Cooperstown, which went 3-1 in a Center State Conference meet against Sauquoit Valley, Waterville, Westmoreland and Oriskany.

Fanion completed the 3.1-mile course in 20 minutes, 31 seconds.

Cooperstown lost, 22-35, to SV, and defeated Waterville (15-44), Oriskany (15-44) and Westmoreland (15-incomplete).

Abby LeCates and Jaime Zoltick contributed sixth- and seventh-place finishes, respectively, for Cooperstown. LeCates crossed in 23:06 _ one second ahead of Zoltick.

The Redskins’ boys also went 3-1. They lost, 23-34 to SV, beat Oriskany, 22-33, and earned wins over incomplete squads from Waterville and Westmoreland.

Jake Burnham’s second-place finish paced Coopestown. He crossed in 18:48 _ 25 seconds behind SV’s Erik Cileba.

Jacob Lansing crossed third for the Redskins, finishing in 18:59.

VOLLEYBALL

Sidney 3, Unatego 1

Tori Seymour had 11 aces and seven kills to lead host Sidney’s 20-25, 26-24, 25-21, 25-18 Midstate Athletic Conference victory.

Paige Redmond contributed 15 assists and Jillian Young had seven digs for the Warriors (9-3), who travel to Bainbridge-Guilford on Friday.

Kali Benedict and Michaela Reynolds had 11 aces and eight kills, respectively, for the Spartans (1-12), who host Greene tonight in their Dig Pink match.

Walton 3, Delhi 2

Walton rallied from two games down for a Midstate Athletic Conference victory on the road.

Danielle Reynolds had 10 aces and six assists for the Warriors (4-8), who received nine kills from Ashley Constable in their 19-25, 18-25, 25-21, 25-16, 25-14 triumph.
