Suzanne Wright scored three goals and had an assist as Oneonta State earned a 4-0 non-conference field hockey victory at West Street rival Hartwick College on Tuesday.
Wright, a senior, has a team-leading 10 goals this season.
She opened the scoring in the 26th minute. Classmate Ashley Johnson had the assist as the Red Dragons took a 1-0 lead into halftime.
Unassisted goals by Wright in the 41st and 47th minutes made it a three-goal spread. She also assisted Andrea Day’s goal with three minutes remaining. It was Day’s ninth goal of the season.
O-State held advantages in shots (19-8) and penalty corners (12-10).
Tess Tracy made three saves in the shutout.
Hartwick starting goalie Megan Campbell stopped eight shots.
O-State (9-5) concludes its SUNY Athletic Conference schedule at Friday against New Paltz. The winner will earn a berth in the SUNYAC Tournament.
Hartwick (6-8) hosts Nazareth College at 11 a.m. Saturday.
Cobleskill 3, Castleton 2
Junior Amber Baker had 15 kills, 13 digs, six aces and three assists to lead SUNY Cobleskill to a 22-25, 25-15, 25-16, 21-25, 15-12 non-conference victory at Castleton State.
Sophomore Kady Porterfield contributed 14 kills, five digs and three assists, and freshman Melissa Spears finished with eight kills for the Fighting Tigers, who improved to 12-14.
Brook Burke chipped in with five kills and nine digs, and Oneonta High graduate Kim Cordova had 20 digs.
Sophomores Casey Holbert and Mary Gallagher had 22 and 19 assists, respectively, for Cobleskill, which will travel to Penn State Abington for the final North Eastern Athletic Conference Division Play weekend Saturday and Sunday.
Sage 7, Cobleskill 1
Nicole Maher had three goals to Sage College to a non-conference road victory.
Sophomore Emily Bannister scored in the 16th minute to cut Cobleskill’s deficit to 3-1. Bannister converted a weak-side cross from classmate Nichole Rubino as Cobleskill ended a three-game scoring drought.
The Fighting Tigers (3-11) host Lancaster Bible College at 1 p.m. Saturday.
