Delhi men cruise, Hawks lose in lacrosse


Tulley finished with four goals and three assists for the Red Dragons, who were deadlocked at 6-6 at halftime.

Nicole Marzocca and Carly Schneider each had three goals and an assist for Farmingdale State (3-1).

Laura Grose made nine saves in goal for Oneonta, which hosts nationally ranked Hamilton College at 4 p.m. Tuesday.


Hartwick sweeps

Hartwick led from start to finish Saturday as the Hawks cruised to a 21-8 defeat of Brown on Senior Night at Moyer Pool. Earlier in the day, the Hawks beat Connecticut College, 14-5.

Sami Capparelli had six goals against the Bears, who gave up five apiece to Sasha Freeborn and Katie Ermakova. Allison Kosich had two goals, and Britt Tait, Kamila Zakirova and Jemma Dendy Young finished with one apiece for Hartwick (18-7).

The Brown game marked the final home match for seniors Kosich, Seabourn, Cox, Kuzma, Freeborn, and Lily Martinez, who were honored before the game.

Against the Camels, Natalie Seabourn and Lara Dendy Young had three goals apiece. Kosich and Ermakova had two goals apiece, and Lilly Gall and Laura Kuzma each had one.

The Hawks will compete in the Arizona State Sun Devil Tournament this Saturday and Sunday. They play Pomona and Cal Baptist on Saturday; Colorado State and La Verne on Sunday; and Stanford and the Sun Devils next Monday. Stanford and Arizona State are ranked 2-3, respectively, in the country.


O-State splits

Sophomore pitcher Alex Mastrianni threw seven strong innings to lead Oneonta State to a 4-1 victory in the second game of a Sunday doubleheader at SUNY Purchase.

Mastrianni scattered seven hits and struck out three en route to his first win of the season. Senior reliever Jim Hegmann pitched a perfect eighth inning to earn his second save of the season.

Jake Robinson broke a 1-all tie with an RBI double in the eighth. Matt Salvatore then singled in a run before Robinson scored on a fielder’s choice by Thomas Hand for the final margin.
