Hartwick men rout Nazareth; Delhi wins two on road

The women’s team received a sixth-place finish from its 1,600 relay team of Oneonta High graduate Jennifer Havens, Princess Joefield, Chantal Fauteux and Quashanda Barnes. The Fighting Tigers finished in 4:32.77.

Cobleskill will compete at Northeastern University at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Great Dane Classic

SUNY Delhi’s distance-medley relay team of Joelsen Resimo, Kevin Williams, Brendan Callaghan and Pete Schweitzer qualified for the NJCAA meet during the Great Dane Classic at the University at Albany.

The foursome finished in 10:37.16, which included Resimo’s 3:12.2 split in the 1,200.

Also qualifying for nationals was Madesson Weekes, who cleared 10-4 in the pole vault.

Sidney graduate Ashley Mahlmeister had a fifth-place finish in the triple jump for the University at Albany. Mahlmeister covered 39-3 1/4.

WRESTLING

ECWC Tournament

Sophomores Sean Hanson and Shaun Gillen earned runner-up finishes for Oneonta State in the Eastern College Wrestling Conference Tournament on Saturday at Cortland State.

Hanson, wrestling at 145 pounds, had a pin, a technical fall victory, and a 7-3 decision over Caleb Willey of Lycoming in the semifinals. He lost by technical fall in the title match to Jordan Dyer of Brockport.

Gillen won two decisions and one major decision en route to the final at 165. He lost, 8-5, to Blake Fisher of Oswego in the final.

The Red Dragons finished fifth with 106 points. Oswego won with 133.

Chad Obzud (197) and Greg Du Vall (184) finished third for O-State.

Other place-winners for the Red Dragons were Ben Mikac and Brian Barry, who finished fourth and fifth, respectively, at 133 pounds; Jake Smith, who placed fourth at 285; and Curt Rowley, who took fifth at 141.

O-State will host Cortland at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

SWIMMING

Kumpf Invitational

Oneonta State’s women won the Kumpf Invitational for the first time Saturday. The Red Dragons compiled 399 points, 74 ahead of host and runner-up Rensselaer.
