Hartwick men rout Nazareth; Delhi wins two on road

Freshman Lauren Zentko led the way with wins in the 1,000-yard freestyle (10 minutes, 56.66 seconds) and the 500 free (5:19.89). She also joined Alexxa Poliachik, Kristin Higgins and Lindsey Molfino on O-State’s winning 400 free relay team.

Jacqueline Haight placed first in the 200 breaststroke in a personal best time of 2:35.65. Freshman Taylor Waldrop touched first in the 200 backstroke in 2:14.58.

O-State will travel to New Paltz on Saturday.

SUNY Cobleskill finished last in the six-team meet. The Fighting Tigers were led by Rachael Degnan, who placed 11th in the 200 butterfly in 2:47.82.

Hartwick sweeps

Hartwick’s men won by a 188-87 count and the women prevailed, 169-115, in Empire 8 Conference wins Saturday at Alfred.

The men were led by Brad Ranson, Chris Willcox and Jeremy Torres, who won two events apiece. Ranson touched first in the 50-yard free (21.97) and the 100 free (48.46). Willcox won the 200 butterfly (1:58.79) and the 100 butterfly (54.68), and Torres was victorious in the 100 breaststroke (1:01.86) and the 200 breaststroke (2:14.60).

Hartwick’s women were led by double-winners Clare Nelson, Jade Woodend and Gwen Mathias.

Nelson won the 100 and 200 breaststroke events in 1:11.75 and 2:35.28, respectively; Wooden touched first in the 50 free (24.69) and 100 free (54.72); and Mathias won the 100 free (11:29.55) and the 200 backstroke (2:19.89).

Hartwick will travel to St. Lawrence at 1 p.m. Saturday.
