Hartwick water polo goes 4-1 at Bucknell

Orange & Brown

Cobleskill’s Marten Peterson met the Eastern College Athletic Conference and New York State College Track Conference automatic qualifying standard in the 800-meter run Saturday, finishing second in 1:56.55 during the Orange & Brown Invitational in Ithaca.

Quashanda Barnes met the NYSCTC provisional qualifying standard in the in the 400 for Cobleskill’s women, placing seventh in 1:02.50.

The Fighting Tigers will compete in the NYSCTC Championships at Ithaca College this Friday and Saturday.

WRESTLING

O-State 34, RIT 12

Dan Graff’s 2-0 decision over Sean Sercu at 157 pounds tied the score at 12 to spark a run of six straight victories for Oneonta State, who closed its dual-meet schedule with a home win Saturday.

Shaun Gillen (major decision at 165), Anthony Paratore (decision at 174), Greg DuVall (pin at 184), Chad Obzud (forfeit at 197) and Jake Smith (decision at 285) followed Graff with triumphs as the Red Dragons cruised to victory.

Ben Mikac (decision at 133) and Sean Hanson (pin at 141) also won for Oneonta (8-11), which will send 10 wrestlers to the NCAA Northeast Regional championships at Worcester Polytechnic Institute in two weeks. The event will serve as the qualifying tournament for the NCAA Division III Tournament, which runs March 15-16 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Skidmore Show

Freshman Taylor Trombley (Oneonta High) won Novice Fences and Novice Flat en route to Reserve High Point Rider honors, leading Hartwick to a second-place finish in its first competition of the spring season Saturday.

The Hawks tied Morrisville State with 35 points and earned Reserve High Point Champion. Trombley, Olivia Quinn, Emma Heritage, Christine Confer, Cecilia Campala and Jessica Ott scored Hartwick’s points.

Felicia Travers (Intermediate Flat) and Taylor Johnson (Novice Flat) also placed first for the Hawks, who will host the Hartwick College Show on March 2 at Hunter’s Rein Stables in Otego.
