---- — Bowling tourney starts this month

The Milford Fire Department will hold a bowling tournament at The Strike Zone on State Highway 28 in Milford.

The format will be no-tap handicap and teams will consist of five bowlers. Entry fee is $100 with payouts for teams finishing 1-4, and the top male and female bowlers.

Teams will bowl Saturdays and Sundays in March, at 10 a.m. or 2 p.m.

Laurens to host 3-on-3 events

The Laurens Booster Club will host double-elimination 3-on-3 tournaments for adults and youths Friday and Saturday, respectively.

Registration for the adult tournament starts at 5:30 p.m. Friday, with play to follow at 6 p.m. Pre-registration cost is $40 per team. The tournament features men’s and women’s divisions for ages 18-29 and 30-and-over. Champions and runner-ups will receive prizes.

Registration for the youth tournament starts at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, with a shooting contest to follow at 9 a.m. Play starts after the shooting contest is completed.

Pre-registration cost is $40 per team. The tournament features boys and girls divisions for grades 5-6, 1-9 and 10-12. Champions and runner-ups will receive prizes.

Milford to hold 3-on-3 tourney

The Milford Education Foundation and Booster Club’s fourth annual March Madness 3-on-3 co-ed basketball tournament will start at 1 p.m. Saturday at Milford Central’s Anton Remy Jr. Gymnasium.

Each team must have a minimum of three players and a maximum of four.

Cost is $10 per player. Entry fee, forms and waivers are due the day of the tournament. Registration for the tournament closes at 12:30 p.m. Saturday.

Teams will compete in co-ed division brackets for grades 5-6, 7-9, 10-12 and adult. Each team must have at least one male and one female player. Participants may play up but not down.

G-MU 3-on-3 tourney Saturday

The Gilbertsville-Mount Upton Booster Club will hold its 14th annual 3-on-3 basketball tournament Saturday.

Registration, which begins at 9 a.m., costs $40 in advance and $45 at the door for modified, junior varsity and varsity players. Registration for fifth- and sixth-grade teams costs $30 in advance and $35 at the door.

Girls AAU tryouts continue Sunday

The Catskill Mountain Girls Basketball Club will hold AAU tryouts on three dates in March.

Tryouts for players in grades 6-8 will run from 12:30-2 p.m. March 10 and 17. Tryouts for players in grades 9-11 will follow from 2-3:30 p.m. each day.

Registration begins 30 minutes before tryouts. A non-refundable tryout fee of $25 is required and covers AAU registration and expenses.

Player participation fee for 2013 is $300 and covers the cost of tournament player registration and uniforms. This fee must be paid upon a player’s selection on the second day of tryouts.

Delhi to offer lifeguard training

SUNY Delhi will offer Red Cross Waterfront Lifeguarding Training, AED, First Aid and CPR-FPR on Mondays and Wednesdays from March 18-May 6.

Classes will run from 6-9 p.m. There will be no classes on April 15 and 17.

Attendance at all sessions is required. Pre-screening the first night includes a 550-yard non-stop swim, a brick swim and retrieval, and a ring retrieval.

Class size is limited, with a minimum of six students. Cost is $270, including a $45 non-refundable deposit at registration. Remainder of fee is due the second day of class.

Delhi also will run a water exercise class from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from March 18-May 16. Cost is $30 for one day per week, $60 for two per week and $80 for three per week. Patricipants also may pay one day at a time, at $6 per day.

Golf continues through March

Colonial Ridge Golf in Laurens is accepting sign-ups for its winter simulator golf league.

Two-person teams compete weekly in a captain-and-mate format. Play runs through the week of March 25-29. Playing times are flexible as teams may on weekdays of their choice from week to week.

Boys AAU tryouts Monday

The Oneonta Boys and Girls Club will host AAU tryouts for boys 16-and-under from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Monday. For more information, call the OBGC at 607-432-1133.

State boys basketball tickets on sale

Tickets for the March 15-17 New York State Public High School Athletic Association’s Boys Basketball State Championships at the Glens Falls Civic are on sale.

The first 1,000 tickets purchased before March 1 cost $8 each. A 4 for $50 package (four tickets, four hot dogs, four sodas) will be offered as well but is only available until March 1.

Regular ticket prices are $10 per session or $50 for all sessions over the three-day event.

State championship weekend begins with the Class D semifinals at 10 and 11:45 a.m. March 15, followed by the Class C semis at 1:30 and 5 p.m., and the Class B semis at 6:45 and 8:30 p.m.

The March 16 schedule opens with Class A semifinals at 9 and 10:45 a.m., with the Class AA semis to follow at 12:30 and 2:15 p.m. Finals for Class D (5:30 p.m.), Class C (7:15 p.m.) and Class B (9 p.m.) are also scheduled for March 16.

The Class A final is set for 1 p.m. March 17, with the Class AA final closing the weekend schedule at 2:45 p.m.

Duke Tournament starts March 18

The Oneonta Boys and Girls Club will host the 15th annual Duke Invitational Basketball Tournament from March 18-23.

Team donation fee is $125. The maximum number of players on a roster is 12. Rosters and fees are due March 11.

Boys and girls teams will compete in divisions for ages 12-and-under, 13-15 and 16-18. Teams will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Late registrations will not be accepted.

O-State to host soccer camp

The Oneonta State men’s soccer team will host an indoor/outdoor soccer camp from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. March 25-28.

Cost is $80 per camper or $20 per day. Registration will take place at Alumni Field House. All pick-ups and drop-offs will be at the same location.

The Chase pool will be available to those interested in swimming. Campers may purchase a pizza lunch at $4 per day.

Designed for boys and girls in grades 1-8, the camp serves as a fundraiser for the men’s team.

O-State women to hold dinner

The Oneonta State women’s soccer team will host its eighth annual “Dinner and Auction with the Dragons” from 5-8 p.m. March 16 at the Elks Club at 84 Chestnut St. in Oneonta.

Tickets for the all-you-can-eat pasta dinner and silent auction cost $10 for adults and $5 for children under 10. Proceeds will support O-State’s spring training trip to Disney Wide World of Sports.

Unadilla Motocross in New Berlin will host the second MX Rewind weekend June 14-16.

Rat Snake registration open

Registration is open for the 2013 Rat Snake, a triathlon held in honor of the late Dr. Ken Stalter.

The event, which is scheduled for May 18, will feature professional timing. The triathlon/team triathlon will begin at 7 a.m., followed by the trail run at 10 a.m. and the 3-kilometer jog/stroll at noon.

The triathlon and trail run will be limited to 100 participants. The team triathlon will be limited to 10 teams.
