Red Dragons track coach tops region

Hartwick will host four matches this Saturday at Moyer Pool. The Hawks will play Gannon at 9 a.m., St. Francis at 1:30 p.m., Siena at 3 p.m., and Marist at 6 p.m.

MEN’S LACROSSE

Union 15, O-State 7

Daniel Stern scored three goals on five shots Wednesday, but Oneonta State dropped a non-conference match on the road.

Jim van de Veerdonk contributed two goals and an assist for the Red Dragons (1-2), who also received goals from Devon Casey and Connor Coyle.

Alex Stone, Richard Gregory and Joe Cordrey scored two goals apiece for Union (1-1), which jumped to a 5-0 lead after one quarter en route to a 9-3 advantage at halftime.

Chris Miles made 14 saves for O-State, which visits Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute on Friday.

WOMEN’S LACROSSE

RPI 13, O-State 9

Caroline Tulley finished with four goals and an assist, but visiting Oneonta State lost a non-conference match on the road.

Nicole Boylan scored twice for the Red Dragons (1-1), who trailed, 8-5, at halftime.

Shannon Maguire’s four goals and one assists paced Rensselaer, which won its season opener.

Laura Grose made five saves for Oneonta, which hosts Marywood University on Saturday.
