Area powerlifters win titles

Kevin Johnson and Stan Chatis won titles at the annual Stars and Stripes Powerlifting Competition, which ran Nov. 17 in Clarks Summitt, Pa.

Johnson won the Masters 275-pound title with a bench press of 505 pounds.

Chatis, 75, won two championships in his class. He placed first with a 265-pound bench press and had the top deadlift at 418 pounds.

Johnson and Chatis will compete in the 2013 national event with the hopes of making the world team.

Worcester grad coaches team to title

Oneonta native and Worcester graduate Jodi Kenyon coached the Endicott College women’s soccer team to its first Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III New England Championship on Nov. 11.

Kenyon’s Gulls entered the tournament as the third seed and upset top-seeded St. Joseph’s of Connecticut, 2-0, in the championship game.

Endicott finished 14-5-4 this past season, which marked Kenyon’s seventh as its head coach. Kenyon, who scored 108 goals for the Wolverines, is 127-42-12 all-time with the Gulls.

Swimming starts soon

The SUNY Delhi Dolphins Swim Team is accepting registration for its 10-practice session, which starts Tuesday and runs until Dec. 20.

Cost is $60 and covers all 10 practices. Weekday practices will run from 3:30-4:30 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday, as well as Dec. 4, 6, 11, 13, 18 and 20. Two Saturday practices will run from noon-1 p.m., on Dec. 8 and 15.

Remy tourney starts Thursday

Milford will host the three-day Anton Remy Tournament from Thursday through Dec. 1. Cherry Valley-Springfield’s boys will play Franklin in the tournament opener at 6 p.m. Thursday, followed by Milford’s girls against CV-S at 7:30 p.m.

On Friday, the CV-S girls will play Franklin at 6 p.m., followed by Milford’s boys against Roxbury at 7:30 p.m.

The boys consolation is set for 4 p.m. Dec. 1, with Milford’s girls following against Franklin at 5:45 p.m. The tournament ends with the boys championship game at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 1.
