The NCAA Division III Management Council selected fifth-year Oneonta State Director of Athletics Tracey Ranieri to serve a four-year term, which will begin at the end of the 2013 NCAA convention.
The council approved Ranieri’s appointment, along with six others, during its Oct. 15-16 meeting.
Other new members who will serve the council through the 2017 convention are Directors of Athletics Chris Salani (Finlandia), Julie Soriero (MIT) and Terry Wansart (Hunter); Commissioners Christopher Ragsdale of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference and Terry Small of the New Jersey Athletic Conference; and Thiel College President Troy VanAken.
They’ll replace outgoing members Kitty Baldridge, Fredina Ingold, Bill Klika, Chris Martin, Jeff Martinez and Charlie Robert.
Ranieri began her tenure at O-State in 1991 as assistant athletic director, senior woman administrator and women’s soccer coach. Her resume includes NCAA CHAMPS Lifeskills coordinator for 12 years, Athletic Department’s Compliance Coordinator, academic liaison to campus faculty, NCAA Fellows Program graduate, and SUNY Chancellor’s Award recipient, among other highlights.
An Ithaca College and Section Four Hall of Famer, Ranieri led the Red Dragons women’s soccer team to a conference unbeaten streak of 101 straight games, 14 postseason appearances and eight SUNYAC championships. She also has won five SUNYAC Coach of the Year honors and earned the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Coach of the Year award in 2003, when O-State won the NCAA Division III championship.
Ranieri earned bachelor degrees from Ithaca in 1986 and SUNY Binghamton in 1995, along with a masters from East Stroudsburg in 1995.
