Peyton Griffiths scored 14 points Friday as host Milford rolled past Franklin, 43-26, in the opening round of the Anton Remy Boys Basketball Tournament at Milford.
“He started scoring the first eight points of game,” Milford coach Frank Spurchise said. “He got us started on a good note.”
The game counted in the Tri-Valley League standings.
Milford held Franklin to 13 points in the first three quarters, which ended with the Wildcats ahead, 35-13.
“We had contributions from a lot of players,” Spurchise said. “I am real proud of our defensive efforts. We just played really well for three quarters.”
Milford (1-0) will host Cherry Valley-Springfield (1-0) in the tournament title game at 7:30 p.m. Saturday. That game won’t count in the T-V standings.
Derek Beers had 10 points to lead Franklin (0-1), which plays Roxbury in the consolation game at 4 p.m. Saturday.
SK 60, Margaretville 52
Trevor Holdridge scored a game-high 22 points to lead host South Kortright to a Delaware League victory.
Holdridge, the lone returning starter from last season’s 19-3 Section Four Class D champion team, went 6-for-6 from the foul line en route to 11 points in the fourth quarter.
Dylan Cole and Anthony Salcido scored 15 and 14 points, respectively, for the Rams, who visit Stamford on Tuesday.
“It was a good opener for both teams,” South Kortright coach Bob VanValkenburgh said.
Mitch Hull scored a team-high 16 points for Margaretville, which took a 26-24 lead into halftime.
Stamford 58, Windham 32
Greg Keating scored a game-high 15 points to lead visiting Stamford to a Delaware League victory.
Matt Anderson contributed 13 points for the Indians, who received 11 apiece from Erik Ehrhart and Dustin King.
David Saunders finished with a team-high 13 points and five blocks for the Warriors, who also received a team-high 10 rebounds from Luke Rasmussen.
Windham (0-1) visits Jefferson on Tuesday.
