Sidney junior throws no-hitter

STAFF REPORT

Junior Jon Gorshack, making his first varsity start, threw a five-inning no-hitter to lead host Sidney to a 22-0 Midstate Athletic Conference victory over Hancock on Tuesday.

Gorshack struck out six and walked one, allowing two base-runners _ the second on a throwing error in the fourth inning.

“This is the first time I've seen Jon pitch on the mound and he was throwing harder than I've seen before,” first-year Sidney coach Matt Ferraro said. “His curveball was working too, but his fastball is what gave him success.”

Noah McKee had three doubles and two RBIs, and Billy Kozak had two hits, two RBIs and three runs for Sidney (3-0, 1-0), which will travel to Walton today.
