OHS track sweeps Windsor

Skylar Thompson and Ben Gollin each won three events to led the Oneonta High's boys defeated visiting Windsor, 96 1/3-44 2/3, in a season-opening Southern Tier Athletic Conference track meet Tuesday.

Thompson won both the 100 meters (11.7 seconds) and the 200 (24.1), and anchored the Yellowjackets' winning 400 relay team that crossed in 47.1.

Gollin won the 1,600 (4:59.2) and was part of victorious 1,600 and 3,200 relay teams, which finished in 3:45.5 and 9:21.5, respectively.

Mitchel Couch and Mat Robinson also won two events. He placed first in the shot put (38 feet, 6 inches) and the discus (133-2). Robinson placed first in the 400 hurdles (1:02.0) and the high jump (5-6).

James Longo (800, 2:13.1), Mat Robinson (400 hurdles, 1:02.0), Aaron Murphy (triple jump, 40-4 ½) and Cameron Hazard (pole vault, 10-6) also won events for the Yellowjackets.

Oneonta's girls opened their STAC season with a 93.5-46.5 win over the Black Knights.

Abby Picinich earned wins in the 100 (13.2) and the 200 (28.0), and Jen Jelic swept the hurdles events, winning the 100 in 16.5 and the 400 in 1:07.6, and won the triple jump (32-6).

Brittney Herrick placed first in the high jump (4-10) and the pole vault (6-6).

Mary Buzzanca contributed a victory in the 400, crossing in 1:05.9.

The Yellowjackets will host Chenango Valley on April 16.

at Edmeston

Elijah Cooley earned wins in the 200 meters, and the 110 and 400 hurdles to lead Edmeston's boys to Tri-Valley League victories over Milford and Davenport/South Kortright.

Edmeston had 87 points. Milford finished with 43 and Davenport/South Kortright at 26.

Cooley won the 200 in 25.73 seconds. He won the 110 hurdles in 17.30 and the 400 hurdles in 1:05.02.

Tom McGroder (100 and triople jump), Jacob Tomlins (800 and 1,600) and Eli Madison (400 and long jump) had two wins apiece for the Panthers.

Hannah Saggese's wins in the 400 and 800 helped Milford's girls beat Edmeston and Davenport/SK.

Saggese won the 400 in 1:06.34 and the 800 in 2:31.02. Amanda Tersigni contributed wins in the 100 hurdles and the long jump, the latter with a distance of 14-4 ½.

Visiting Milford snapped a 6-all tie by scoring three times with two outs in the sixth inning of its Tri-Valley League victory.

The first run scored on a fielder's choice and the last came around on an outfield error.

Addy Lawson, Kaley Chase and Dawn Pickwick had two hits apiece for the Wildcats. Chase doubled and tripled.

Amanda Flint had three hits, and Tessa Hitchcock contributed two hits and two runs for the Mustangs, who will host Franklin on Thursday.

Taylor Spranger struck out seven in a two-hitter and stole eight bases to lead host Schenevus to a Tri-Valley League victory.

Spranger hit an RBI single during the Dragons' two-run first inning. She also stole home during Schenvus' five-run fifth inning.

Aly Turner had three its and Stephanie Pepaj contributed two for Schenvus (1-1, 1-0), which will host Cherry Valley-Springfield on Thursday.

Claire Fraser and Jess Hadlock doubled for Laurens.

Morgan Westcott, who attended Oxford last year, had three hits to lead Unatego, which received two doubles from Bailey Jordan.
