Davenport 18, Downsville 5

Kacie Hymers went 3-for-4, with a double, home run and two RBIs, and Emily Whipple was 2-for-2, with a home run to lead host Davenport in the Delaware League.

Samantha Maidens had two hits and three RBIs, and Jenna Lutz struck out seven to earn the victory.

Downsville was led by Kaileen Townsend's RBI double.

Davenport (1-1, 1-0) hosts Gilboa on Friday.

Nick Meno's 6-4, 7-6 (8-6) win over BenGabriel Gonzalez at first singles helped visiting Sidney to a season-opening Midstate Athletic Conference victory.

The Warriors' first doubles team of Alex Marrow and Andy Burpoe downed Spencer Stevens and Thomas Petrutoni, 6-4, 6-3.

Skyler McKee earned a 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 win over Kwok Hing Chen at second doubles for Bainbridge-Guilford, which will travel to Oxford next Wednesday.
