O-State’s Mager honored
Oneonta State sophomore Zach Mager earned Third Team honors on the SUNY Athletic Conference all-star teams.
Mager led Oneonta in every offensive category, which included a scoring average of 19.2 points. His season scoring average was the fifth highest in program history and his 479 points is the sixth highest total for a single season all-time.
In a Dec. 8 game versus Brockport, Mager scored 40 points, which fell two points shy of the single game record set in 1997. It was the first time since 1997 that an Oneonta player had scored at least 40 points in a game. He became the third Red Dragons player to reach 40 points.
Mager set the single-season record of 171 free throws made and his 200 free throw attempts were second-best in school history. Mager shot 85.5 percent from the line _ the third-highest in school history.
Mager’s 47.6 percentage from three-point range was the second-highest among O-State players who attempted at least 50 from behind the arc. Mager went 40-for-84 on three-pointers.
Mager earned honors as SUNYAC and ECAC Player of the Week and was named to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week.
