Corbin Curley scored on a 29-yard pass from Dylan Umbra with 27 seconds remaining as visiting Sidney rallied for a 28-24 season-opening non-division Section Four Football Conference victory at Walton on Saturday.
Sidney went 73 yards in 1:09 for the go-ahead score. One of the biggest plays of the drive was a 44-yard completion from Umbra to Josh Wilce.
Umbra finished 9-for-16 for 224 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran 11 times for 67 yards and a touchdown.
Walton (0-1) opened a 24-14 lead in the fourth quarter, when Dylan Hornbeck scored on a 1-yard run and Bob Albro went in on the conversion run.
Sidney pulled to 24-22 with about six minutes remaining. Umbra connected with Alex Heil on a 52-yard touchdown. Heil also caught the conversion pass.
Heil finished with four catches for 78 yards. Curley had two catches for 67 yards.
Sidney (1-0) took a 6-0 lead 16 seconds into play as Andy Kozak returned the opening kickoff 85 yards.
Touchdown runs of 5 and 2 yards in the second quarter by sophomore quarterback Dalton Kaminsky helped Walton to a 16-6 halftime lead. Kaminsky hit Nick Shiels on the first conversion and Christian Howe ran in the second.
Sidney made it 16-14 in the third on Umbra's 6-yard run and Heil's conversion catch from Umbra.
Howe had a game-high 88 yards on 19 carries to lead Walton, which received 84 yards on 19 carries from Hornbeck. Walton visits Bainbridge-Guilford (1-0) in a Division VII game at 7 p.m. Friday night.
Sidney will face its second straight Hoover-coached team when it hosts Oneonta High (1-0) at 7 p.m. Friday. Walton coach Jim Hoover is the father of Oneonta coach Adam Hoover, whose team opened the season Friday with a 40-27 win at Greene.

Billy Holden's 10-yard interception return with just under 1:30 remaining sealed a non-division victory for Bainbridge-Guilford on the road Friday.
The Bobcats (1-0) extended their lead to 14-7 in the third quarter on a 1-yard run by Ryan Porter. Unadilla Valley/Edmeston (0-1) pulled to 14-13 on Brett Gage's 2-yard touchdown run in the third.
Brandon Miles scored on a 10-yard run in the first quarter to give UV/E the lead. Zak Ruffles' extra-point kick made it 7-0. B-G made it 8-7 when Dakota Vandermark scored on a 4-yard run and Porter went in on the conversion run in the second quarter.
Vandermark had a game-high 81 yards on 17 carries to lead B-G, which had a 145-135 advantage in yards.
UV/E lost its 19th straight game. The Storm visits Deposit/Hancock (0-1) at 7 p.m. Friday, when B-G hosts Walton (0-1) in a Division VII game.
