MEN’S SOCCER

Herkimer 2, Delhi 0

Brian Coyt and Pete McAvoy scored for visiting Herkimer County Community College in its Mountain Valley Conference win Friday.

SUNY Delhi goalie Brandon Rivera made 12 saves. The Broncos (6-5) were outshot, 15-3.

Herkimer improved to 10-1.

Delhi will travel to Adirondack at 4 p.m. Today.

Football

Hartwick College’s Tanner Williams earned Empire 8 Conference Special Teams Player of the Week honors.

Williams returned three punts for 57 and four kickoffs for 84 yards during the Hawks’ 37-14 loss to St. John Fisher on Saturday. His 36-yard punt return set up his 1-yard touchdown run. He also caught four passes for 71 yards and a touchdown.

Williams has 16 catches for 209 yards and two touchdowns this season. His eight kickoff returns have covered 162 yards and his 11 punt returns have gone for 136 yards. Williams ranks second in the E8 in punt returns.

Hartwick (4-1) will play Alfred at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Golf

SUNY Cobleskill junior Travis Deuel was named the North Eastern Athletic Conference’s Golfer of the Week.

It’s the third time this season Deuel has earned the honor.

Deuel shot rounds of 79 and 82 to place 10th in the Eastern College Athletic Conference New England Regional Division III Championships at Crumpin-Fox Club in Massachusetts.

Cobleskill athlete of the week

SUNY Cobleskill named junior Stacey Zinsman its athlete of the week.

Zinsman’s goal from 40 yards in the 56th minute lifted the Fighting Tigers into a 1-1 tie with Gallaudet on Sunday.

Cobleskill (0-10-1) will play at Saint Elizabeth at 1 p.m. Saturday.
