O-State athletes to rake leaves

Oneonta State athletes will hold their annual Leaf Raking Community Service Event from 8:30-11:30 a.m. Saturday.

Members of the O-State baseball, softball, men’s lacrosse, men’s basketball and men’s soccer teams will rake leaves, free of charge, for elderly residents and others who need assistance in Oneonta and surrounding communities.

Residents do not have to be home to have their lawns raked, but they must sign up ahead of time. To sign up, call Student-Athlete Affairs Administrator Liz Wagner at 607-436-3590 and provide your name, a phone number where you can be reached Saturday and the approximate size of the lawn.

Free wrestling clinic Saturday

The 10th annual SUNY Oneonta Alumni Wrestling Developmental Clinic will start at 1 p.m. Saturday in the gymnasium of the college’s Chase Physical Education Building.

The clinic is free and open to all ages and levels of experience.

Featured clinicians are NCAA Division III All-Americans Rubin Prophete, Josh Wake and Trevor Hiffa.

The clinic will be followed by the 40th anniversary Alumni Wrestling Match at 3 p.m. Saturday.

Oneonta to host soccer finals

The Wright National Soccer Campus in Oneonta will host four high school soccer championship games Saturday.

The quadruple-header begins at 1 p.m. Saturday with the Tri-Valley League girls championship between Milford and Morris. At 1:15 p.m., South Kortright will play Margaretville for the Delaware League boys title.

The T-V boys title game features Edmeston against Cherry Valley-Springfield at 3 p.m., followed by the DL girls crossover between South Kortright and Davenport.

The Oneonta Soccer Club will operate concession stands during the games.

Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students and senior citizens.
