Hartwick men earn MAC tie on road

O-State 5, Fredonia 2

The host Red Dragons took a 3-0 lead into halftime and clinched the SUNY Athletic Conference regular-season title.

O-State (9-4-3, 6-0-3) opened the scoring in the 17th minute. Liz Lasota played the ball down the right side to Karly DeSimone, who beat two defenders before sliding a pass that set up Shane Ventresca’s first goal of the season.

DeSimone also assisted the Red Dragons’ second goal, a header by Elise Moinzadeh.

After O-State goalie Kelley Murphy stopped a penalty kick, DeSimone stole the ball before scoring on a high shot to give O-State a three-goal cushion.

DeSimone also scored in the second half, as did teammate Jessica Lyden.

Murphy had eight saves for O-State, which held advantages of 15-13 in shots and 6-4 in corner kicks.

O-State will travel across West Street to play city-rval Hartwick at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

LBC 4, Cobleskill 2

Payton Falb scored 1:15 into Sunday’s NEAC match for Cobleskill (2-13-1, 2-8-1), which ended its season with a loss at Lancaster Bible College (13-7, 8-3).

Megan Golden, who assisted Falb, gave the Fighting Tigers a 2-0 lead in the ninth minute on a 30-yard free kick, but the Crusaders scored the next four goals.

Haley MacLean made 14 saves for Cobleskill.

Keuka 3, Cobleskill 0

Jessica Bandrowski had two goals Saturday to lead Keuka (8-5-1, 7-4) to a NEAC road win.
