Hartwick College went the distance in two volleyball matches Friday at the Oneonta State Dig Pink Invitational but dropped both.
Dana Martin had 11 kills and a team-best 12 digs for Hartwick in a 20-25, 15-25, 25-16, 25-15, 15-10 loss to Plattsburgh.
Hannah Armstrong amassed a college-best 39 assists and Hannah Strom contributed 12 kills, five aces and five digs. Katie Ryan had nine kills and a team-best three blocks, Christina Vitale finished with 13 digs and Alyssa Zeitler had 12 digs for the Hawks.
Hartwick (11-20) came out strong in its second match, too, but ended up falling to Montclair, 13-25, 25-20, 25-18, 14-25, 15-6.
Martin had her second straight double-double, with team-bests of 11 kills and 13 digs, to pace the Hawks. She also had six aces.
Strom contributed 10 kills and 12 digs, Armstrong finished with 30 assists, Taylor Vonasek had seven kills and Vitale had eight digs.
The host Red Dragons went 2-0 Friday with victories over Bard, 25-9, 25-7, 25-8, and Hunter, 25-22, 19-25, 25-13, 25-22. No other information was available at press time.
Both local teams will compete during the second and final day of the tournament Saturday.
