Ben Hall homered to right field in the first inning, but Cooperstown failed to score thereafter in a Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League road loss.
The Mohawks (2-4) took the lead for keeps on a two-run double by Josh Gardiner in the second inning.
Colin Gay homered to left field in the fifth for Amsterdam, which capped the scoring on Ed Charlton’s home run to left in the eighth.
Cooperstown (3-2) fell into third place in the five-team East Division. The Hawkeyes trail Albany (4-0) and Mohawk Valley (4-2).
Cooperstown visits Elmira for a 7:05 p.m. game Saturday, then hosts Newark at 5 p.m. Sunday at Doubleday Field. Fathers will be admitted free Sunday in honor of Father’s Day.
