Nick Lutz saw to that, hitting a walk-off single to center in the sixth inning Monday to give Community Bank a 2-1 victory over Police in the double-elimination tournament at Doc Knapp Field.
Police had been unbeaten and Community Bank had one loss in the tournament, heading into Monday’s game. Today’s final will start at 6 p.m. back at Doc Knapp Field.
“Some of the plays these kids make, a 2-1 Little League game, that’s great,” Community Bank coach Rich Murphy said. “That’s a real good game.”
With the score tied at 1, Gabe House walked to start CB’s sixth. Then with runners on first and third and no outs, Police intentionally walked Tony Giovagnoli to load the bases. Lutz followed with his single up the middle to end it.

CB tied in the fourth on Evan Sitts’ RBI single.
Giovagnoli threw 4 2/3 innings and Mickey Romano followed with 1 1/3 innings of scoreless relief to get the win for CB.
Neer went 2-for-3 for Police.
