Oneonta High senior Chris Pindar hit an RBI double and scored during a four-run eighth inning that lifted the Oneonta Outlaws to a 5-1 victory over the host Geneva Red Wings on Monday in the New York Collegiate Baseball League.
Pindar, named a Southern Tier Athletic Conference all-conference selection Monday after hitting a school-record seven homers this spring for the Yellowjackets, gave the Outlaws a 2-1 with his double in the eighth.
No. 9 batter Derek Hirsch, who had three of Oneonta’s eight hits, singled to start the inning. He scored on Pindar’s double and Pindar went to third on center fielder Zak Worsley’s error. Pindar then scored on Jake Levine’s single to make it 3-1.
Heath Holder and Spencer Duffie hit sacrifice flies later in the inning.
Winning pitcher Malcolm Purdy and Corey Kafka combined on a four-hitter. Purdy allowed one run on four hits and struck out five over seven innings. Kafka threw two innings of hitless relief with three strikeouts.
The Outlaws (5-3) opened the scoring in the third inning. Hirsch doubled and scored on Brian Kraft’s single.
Geneva tied the score in the sixth, when Worsley tripled and scored on Ken Rabin’s groundout.
Oneonta will play a doubleheader at Alliance Bank Stadium today against the Syracuse Junior Chiefs. The first game will start at 3 p.m.
