---- — Morris alumni to golf Saturday

Colonial Ridge Golf in Laurens will host the third annual Morris Alumni Tournament on Saturday.

The captain-and-crew event, which is open to the public, will begin with a shotgun start at 8 a.m.

Cost to enter is $50 per person and includes greens fees, cart and prize money.

Hall to display World Series trophy

The San Francisco Giants’ 2012 World Series trophy will be on exhibit at the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown on Saturday and Sunday.

The trophy will be on display in the Hall’s Library Atrium from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. both days. Access to the trophy is included with museum admission.

Outlaws camps start Monday

The Oneonta Outlaws will host baseball camps for boys and girls ages 5-12 from Monday through July 18 at Damaschke Field.

Each four-day camp runs from 9 a.m.-noon Mondays through Thursdays. Campers will be grouped based on age and ability.

Cost is $70 per player and includes 12 hours of instruction from Outlaws coaches and players, as well as an official Oneonta Outlaws T-shirt. Cost for each additional family member is $60. Additional camps also cost $60 apiece.

The Outlaws are also offering birthday party packages. Cost is $12 per child, with a minimum of 10 children required. Cost includes free game admission for each child and one parent, as well as food and drink for each child. The birthday child also will received an Outlaws baseball cap and throw out the ceremonial first pitch.

Softball school runs June 24-27

The 6th Ward All County Softball School will run from 9 a.m.-noon Monday through June 27 at Ted Christman Field in Neahwa Park.

The school is for players ages 9-17 and teaches fundamentals of pitching, hitting, fielding and base running.

Youth soccer camps start in June

The Headwaters Soccer Club is accepting registrations for its 2013 summer camps.

Seven camps will be held for boys and girls ages 7-17, including team camps.

Cost is $60 per camper per week. Each participant will receive a T-shirt and a water bottle.

The camps run from 9:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Friday on the following dates:

June 24-28: at Otego American Legion Post 1555.

July 1-5: at Worcester Central.

July 8-12: at Mine Kill State Park.

July 15-19: at Mine Kill State Park.

July 22-26: at Edmeston Central.

July 29-Aug. 2: at Mine Kill State Park.

Bass tourney set for June 30

The Susquehanna Bass Association will host the Neptune Diner Open on Cayuga Lake on June 30.

The club will fish a 10-tournament schedule. Anglers of the Year will be announced at the end of the season.

OBGC to hold summer camps

The Oneonta Boys and Girls Club will host the following summer camps.

Rising Stars Hoop Camp ($50): Oneonta High boys basketball coach Jerry Mackey will run basketball camps July 1-3. The camp for boys and girls in grades K-5 runs from 8:30-11 a.m. The camp for boys and girls in grades 6-11 runs from 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m.

Football Camp ($25): First-year Oneonta High varsity football coach John Mushtare will run a football camp for boys ages 7-12 from 3-5 p.m. July 15-17.

Basketball camp July 8-12

The 10th annual Red Dragon Basketball Camp will run from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. July 8-12 at Oneonta State’s Alumni Field House.

O-State to host wrestling camp

Oneonta State will host Ken Chertow Wrestling’s Gold Medal Training Camp from July 12-15.

The camp is for wrestlers of all skill levels and ages. Group discounts are available.

The camp is also seeking a nurse to provide healthcare. In exchange for this service, the nurse may choose a wrestler to attend the camp for free. Nurse candidates also have the option of discussing wages and discounts instead.

Soccer official classes start July 17

Classes for those interested in officiating high school soccer games during the 2013 season begin at 6 p.m. July 17 at Oneonta State’s Morris Conference Center.

O-State golf tourney July 20

The SUNY Oneonta athletics department will hold its third annual Coaches Golf Classic on July 20 at the Oneonta Country Club.

Entry fee for the captain-and-crew event is $100 per golfer.

Prizes will be awarded to the first-, second- and third-place foursomes in both flights, as well as for longest drive and closest to the pin.

The event begins with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. A lunch buffet will follow the event.

Gilbertsville church to hold golf event

The Presbyterian Church in Gilbertsville will host its 13th annual captain-and-crew golf tournament July 20 at Colonial Ridge Golf in Laurens.

The tournament will raise money from entry fees and hole sponsors, which are still available, to benefit the refurbishing project of the church sanctuary.

Girls basketball camp July 21-24

The Oneonta State women’s basketball team will host a developmental overnight/commuter camp for girls ages 10-18 from July 21-24.

Team members will serve as counselor’s for the camp, which is designed to develop fundamentals.

Daily activities include 1-on-1 and 3-on-3 instruction, fundamental stations, and games.

Cost is $295 for residents (overnight) and $255 for commuters. A $35 non-refundable deposit is required with the application. Those who submit applications and full payments by June 3 will receive a $10 discount. Group discounts are also available.

SUNY Delhi will host the High Octane Lacrosse Camp for boys ages 8-18 from July 24-27.

Cost is $375 per person to attend the overnight camp, which is designed to enhance individual and team skills.

The 17th annual Eastman Associates Munchkin All-Sport Camp will run from July 29-Aug. 1 at Oneonta State.

The O-State women’s soccer team will run the camp, which is designed for boys and girls ages 5-12. Activities include badminton, basketball, kickball, racquetball, soccer, T-ball, tennis, track and field, and volleyball.

Cost is $60 per camper (9 a.m.-1 p.m.) or $90 per camper (9 a.m.-4 p.m.) and includes a T-shirt. Campers should wear athletic attire, including sneakers, and bring their own lunches.

The Cooperstown Soccer Club and Challenger Sports will host British Soccer Camps from July 29-Aug. 2 at Cooperstown Elementary.

Each day includes individual foot skills, technical drills, tactical practices, small-sided games, coached scrimmages and a daily World Cup tournament. Campers receive a free replica jersey (for online registrations at least 45 days before camp), a ball, a t-shirt and access to www.thechallengerway.com.

The Headwaters Soccer Club will hold the fifth annual Ouleout Creek Charity Golf Tournament at 1 p.m. Aug. 10 in Franklin.

Entry fee for the scramble tournament is $60 per person and includes greens fees, cart and buffet. First-, second- and third-place teams will receive awards. Golfers may register as teams or as individuals.

Proceeds from the charity golf tournament will benefit the HSC summer soccer camp program.

The National Baseball Hall of Fame and the Clark Sports Center in Cooperstown will host the second annual BASE Race on Aug. 11.

The event features a competitive 10-kilometer race at 8 a.m. and a family-style 5K run at 8:15 a.m. Both events start and finish at the CSC.

Registration is $25 for adults and $50 for families until race day, when registration will be $40 for individuals and $65 for families.

Proceeds support outreach for the “Be A Superior Example” program, which promotes the concepts of healthy lifestyle choices by educating students about the dangers of performance-enhancing substances.

The Hall also will hold a pre-race gathering for runners Aug. 10. Details will be released later this spring.
