Hartwick College goalie Haley Cox recently earned her third straight Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches Women’s All-Academic Award, the Hawks announced Tuesday.
Nine other Hartwick players were among the 300 student-athletes recognized this season by the ACWPC as varsity members who achieved grade point averages of 3.2 or higher and competed during the 2013 women’s season. Athletes are honored on three levels: outstanding (3.71-4.0 GPA), superior (3.41-3.7) and excellent (3.2-3.4).
Cox, a senior, was one of 66 players in the outstanding classification.
Sophomore driver Lara Dendy Young earned the superior distinction for the first time.
The excellent category includes seniors Sasha Freeborn and Laura Kuzma; juniors Jemma Dendy Young, Lily Gall and Katie Ermakova; and freshmen Michaela Davies, Britt Tait and Logan Reed.
Hartwick’s final team grade-point average was 3.20, which tied the Hawks for 19th in the nation.
Hartwick’s 29-13 record marked the 10th straight season the Hawks won at least 25 games.
