Oneonta Pitch, Hit & Run is April 26

The City of Oneonta will host a local qualifier for the MLB Pitch, Hit & Run Competition from 5-7 p.m. April 26 at Ted Christman Field in Neahwa Park.

Children may compete at any time within this timeframe. Participation is free and open to all boys and girls ages 7-14 (as of July 17, 2013).

To pre-register, a parent/guardian must submit an entry form/release of liability to the Recreation Department in Neahwa Park. A valid birth certificate must be presented.

Forms are available at the recreation office and at www.oneonta.ny.us/recreation. Event-day registrations will also be accepted.

Local winners advance to sectional competition May 19 at Damaschke Field on Oneonta. For more information, call the Recreation Department at 607-432-0680 during regular business hours.

City of Oneonta fields closed

The City of Oneonta Parks and Recreation Department announced earlier this week that all city parks playing fields are closed until further notice.

City parks playing fields are not to be used until the fields are declared “ready for play” by the Parks and Recreation Department.

Cobleskill PH&R set for Tuesday

SUNY Cobleskill will host a Scotts/Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit and Run local qualifier at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the college’s baseball and softball fields.

Registration begins at 5:30 p.m. The event is open to boys and girls ages 7-14 as of July 17, 2013. Copies of birth certificates are required.

This year, boys will compete in baseball and girls will compete in softball. Overall champions and individual-event winners in each age-group will qualify for sectional competition later in the year.
