Plattsburgh (6-14, 2-7) jumped to a 3-0 lead after four innings of the opener, then scored three unearned runs in the seventh for a 6-1 advantage.
The Red Dragons rallied for four runs with two out in the bottom of the seventh and had the tying run at second base, but Corey Grossman secured the victory for the Cardinals with a strikeout.
Losing pitcher Kyle Jordan allowed three earned runs on five hits in six innings for O-State, which hosts a SUNYAC doubleheader against Fredonia on Tuesday.

Sophomore pitcher Steve Ascher struck out seven and allowed one earned run on four hits to earn a victory in his first complete game of the season.
Chris Massaroni hit a two-run homer in the first inning for Oneonta, which got three hits and two runs from Ivan Plata. He scored the decisive run in the second inning, when Christopher Orlando’s two-out single to right field made it 3-1.
Thomas Hand capped O-State’s scoring with a two-out homer in the eighth.
Losing pitcher Kyle Kelly (Afton) gave up two earned runs on five hits in two-plus innings for Plattsburgh.
O-State sweeps Potsdam
Nicole Marzillo homered and drove in three runs to lead Oneonta State to a 9-3 victory in the first game of a SUNYAC doubleheader Saturday. The Red Dragons (5-13, 3-5) scored seven runs on six hits in the fifth inning for the final score.
Marzillo, Kalyn Deso, Katie O’Flynn and Brianna Rivera had two hits apiece to pace O-State, helping O’Flynn to a complete-game victory. O’Flynn struck out six and allowed three earned runs on eight hits.
Rivera’s two hits led Oneonta to a 5-0 victory in the second game, which featured two RBIs apiece from Deso and Chandler Campbell.
Winning pitcher Rachel Hitt struck out seven and allowed six hits for the Red Dragons, who host SUNY Canton for a non-conference doubleheader at 3 p.m. today.
