O-State women down Potsdam

Jillian Donodeo scored five goals, Carley Sarle contributed four goals, and Caroline Tulley and Kiera McNally had three apiece to lead Oneonta State to a 16-10 SUNY Athletic Conference women's lacrosse victory over visiting Potsdam on Tuesday.

The Red Dragons (7-5, 2-2) outscored Potsdam, 10-5, in the second half.

Chelsea Collins had three assists for O-State, which will host Fredonia at 2:30 p.m. Saturday.


Delhi 6, Dutchess 2

Sidney graduate Tom O'Halloran clinched SUNY Delhi's home victory with a 6-3, 7-6 (7-5) victory over Yoshi Tsujir at second singles.

The Broncos' third doubles team of Dylan Maxson (Unatego) and Rich Felter defeated Ken Whittaker and Phi Boa to improve to 3-0 on the season.

Delhi (3-0) will host Herkimer on Thursday.


Oneonta splits

Host Oneonta State earned a split with an 8-5 victory in the second game after dropping the first game of a SUNY Athletic Conference doubleheader, 6-5, to Fredonia in 11 innings.

The Red Dragons (9-14, 4-2) had 14 hits in the second game and relief pitcher Mike McFerran threw four innings of one-hit ball to get the win.

Rob Peluso had a two-run triple during O-State's four-run first inning.

Thomas Hand's two-run double in the third inning extended O-State's lead to 6-0.

Dean Haussel, Chris Orlando, Chris Massaroni and Peluso had two hits apiece for O-State.

In the first game, Fredonia (13-5, 4-2) received an RBI triple by Brian Sheehan in the 11th inning to snap a 5-all tie.

O-State and visiting Fredonia will play a single game at 3 today.


O-State swept

Oneonta State lost by scores of 7-2 and 6-4 in a non-conference doubleheader at Rensselaer.

Nicole Marzillo hit a two-run homer in the second inning of the first game to give the Red Dragons a 2-0 lead, but Rensselaer scored four times in the bottom of the inning.

O-State (7-14) was held to three hits in the first game.

Marzillo went 3-for-4 in the second game with an RBI.

The Red Dragons will host Brockport in a doubleheader at 3 p.m. Friday.
