The tournament will run from July 10-19 at Denver.
Bjorness has international coaching experience, having served on the Iroquois Nationals’ staff on five occasions.
The Dutch squad will start training for the tournament June 20 at the University of Colorado Boulder. Bjorness will assist head coach Neal Powless, a collegiate All-American at Nazareth College.
Thirty-eight nations will compete. The Dutch will play China on July 11, Norway on July 12 and Italy on July 13 in pool-play games. The top team in each pool will advance to the quarterfinal round.
Bjorness has been Hartwick’s head coach since 1999, guiding the program to 109 victories and seven postseason appearances.
