Unatego will host its annual Varsity Awards night at 7 p.m. tonight.
Special awards include the Brian Truhn outstanding senior athletes and the most improved athletes.
Hall to celebrate 75th anniversary
The National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown will celebrate its 75th anniversary Thursday.
Hall of Famers Joe Morgan, Phil Niekro and Cal Ripken Jr. will take part in a dedication ceremony on the Hall’s front steps at 11 a.m. Thursday.
At 1 p.m., local residents Homer Osterhoudt and Howard Talbot, who were present for the opening of the museum June 12, 1939, will share their memories in the Bullpen Theater.
The Hall will open its newest exhibit, Babe Ruth: His Life and Legend, at 10 a.m. Friday. Members of the Ruth family will be present.

OHS teams to host fundraiser
Oneonta High’s softball and volleyball programs will host the Dodge Booster Club Fundraiser from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday at OHS.
Dodge will donate $20 to the programs for each person who takes a short test drive. Royal Chrysler Jeep Dodge will have several new vehicles to test drive. Anyone 18 or older with a valid driver’s license can test drive a car and earn donations.
There also be a car wash and a concession stand during the fundraiser.
Delaware Co. Am to be held July 11-13
The Delhi College Golf Course will host the 49th annual Delaware County Men’s Amateur Golf Championship on July 11-13.
There will be a championship flight and five handicap divisions.
The fee is $110 and is open to all members of Delaware County golf courses or residents of Delaware County. Applications are available at all Delaware County golf courses or by calling the Delhi College Golf Course at 607-746-4653.
Cat Classic 5K is Saturday
The second annual Cat Classic 5K Run & Walk, sponsored by the Milford Booster Club, is set for Saturday at Milford Central.
The race starts at 10:30 a.m. rain or shine in front of the school driveway and ends on the track finish line.
Pre-registration by Thursday is $15 per person or $45 per family. Registration on race day is $20 per person.
Strollers are allowed. The top male and female finishers will win awards. Medals will be given to the top three finishers in all age-groups.

Golf tournament Saturday
The Cullman Child Development Center in Sidney will host the 15th annual Cullman Golf Challenge on Saturday at the Afton Golf Course.
The captain-and-crew event will open with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. The event ends with a buffet lunch for all participants and includes raffles, prizes and a hole-in-one tournament with a $5,000 prize.
All proceeds benefit the Cullman Child Development Center.

Soccer league seeks players
The Latte Lounge Oneonta Co-Ed Adult Summer Soccer League is securing players and teams for the 2014 season. Play will begin in mid-June and run through early August.
The league is for players 17 and older, and offers an opportunity for high school and college players, coaches and adults to participate.
It’s a 7-on-7 format on a field 75-by-70 yards with full-sized goals.

Charity golf tourneys set
The Headwaters Soccer Club will hold two charity golf tournaments to benefit its summer soccer camp program.
The 21st annual Hank Hotaling Charity Golf Tournament will start at 2 p.m. June 21 at the Stamford Golf Club.
The sixth annual Ouleout Creek Charity Golf Tournament will start at 1 p.m. Aug. 10 in Franklin.
Both tournaments are scramble format. Players may register as teams or individuals. Entry fee is $60 per person and includes greens fees, cart and buffet.
First-, second- and third-place teams will receive awards.

Softball school starts June 30
The 6th Ward All County Softball School will run from 9 a.m.-noon June 30-July 3 at Field 4 in Neahwa Park.
The school is for players ages 9-17 and will focus on fundamentals of pitching, hitting, fielding and base running.
