O-State softball clinic Dec. 15

Oneonta State will hold a softball clinic from 1-4 p.m. Dec. 15 at Alumni Field House.

Registration runs from noon-1 p.m. and costs $30 per player.

The clinic will focus on hitting, defense, pitching and catching and will be open to all students in the 2014-17 graduating classes.

Softball camp ends Sunday

The Oneonta Boys and Girls Club will hold the final Oneonta Fall Pitching Camp on Sunday. The fast-pitch softball camp is designed for players ages 8-18 who want to learn how to pitch or develop their skills.

Sessions I and II of the advanced/intermediate pitching camp for ages 13-18 will run from 1:30-2:30 p.m. and from 2:30-3:30 p.m., respectively. Session I will feature drills that reinforce mechanics, speed, accuracy and endurance. Session II will focus on new pitches, honing skills and drills to reinforce pitch and game strategies.

Registration fee is $80 for Session I and $130 for both sessions.

The camp also features a third session for beginners that will run from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Session III will cover mechanics, fundamentals, drills and strategies and costs $80.

Drago tourney starts Tuesday

The Oneonta High boys basketball team will host the 55th Anthony C. Drago Tip-Off Tournament on Tuesday and Friday.

Oneonta’s junior varsity team will open the event at 3 p.m. Tuesday against Seton Catholic Central. The Unatego and Johnson City JV teams will follow at 4:45 p.m.

The varsity portion of the tournament begins with Unatego meeting Johnson City at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. OHS and Seton will close the first day with an 8:15 p.m. game.

Friday’s second round starts with the JV consolation at 1 p.m., followed by the JV title game at 2:45 p.m. The varsity consolation and championship games will start at 4:30 and 6:15 p.m., respectively.
