Each team will pay its umpire $23 before each game. The forfeit bond will be used to pay an umpire if a team fails to show up for a scheduled game. Forfeit bond balances will be refunded at the end of the season.

Both leagues will hold preseason meetings April 24 at the Laskaris Skatehouse in Neahwa Park. Women will meet at 7 p.m., followed by men at 8 p.m.

Oneonta Pitch, Hit & Run is April 26

The City of Oneonta will host a local qualifier for the MLB Pitch, Hit & Run Competition from 5-7 p.m. April 26 at Ted Christman Field in Neahwa Park.

Children may compete at any time within this timeframe. Participation is free and open to all boys and girls ages 7-14 (as of 7/17/13).

To pre-register, a parent/guardian must submit an entry form/release of liability to the Recreation Department in Neahwa Park. A valid birth certificate must be presented.

Forms are available at the recreation office and at www.oneonta.ny.us/recreation. Event-day registrations will also be accepted.

Local winners advance to sectional competition May 19 at Damaschke Field on Oneonta. For more information, call the Recreation Department at 607-432-0680 during regular business hours.

Free baseball clinic April 27

Laurens Central will host a free baseball clinic for boys and girls in grades 1-6 from 11 a.m.-2:30 p.m. April 27.

Pre-registration is recommended for the clinic, which will cover throwing, hitting, fielding, running, stretching and defense.

Hall to host Mars project April 27

The National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown will host the Imagine Mars Project, a workshop for students in grades 4-8, on April 27.
