Jason Barrows struck out 16 in a two-hitter to lead Gilbertsville-Mount Upton, which won at home in the Tri-Valley League.

Barrows, who walked one, took a no-hitter into the sixth inning, when the Purple Devils broke through with two hits and three runs.

Tim French was 2-for-3 for the Raiders, scoring two runs and driving in another. G-MU (1-3, 1-2) will host Morris on Wednesday.

Joe Smith had a two-run single for Franklin.

Davenport 3, Jefferson 1

Cousins Kyle and Cody Wamsley led Davenport to its first victory of the season as the Wildcats won a Delaware League game at home.

Kyle Wamsley, a junior, went 2-for-3 with an RBI triple that capped the scoring in the first. He also scored Davenport’s initial run in the third inning, on a double by freshman catcher Cody Wamsley. Justin Fisher then singled in Cody Wamsley for the go-ahead run.

Sophomore pitcher Josh Davi struck out 11 in a three-hitter for the Wildcats (1-3, 1-1), who allowed a run in the first inning.

“Josh just got better as the game went on,” Davenport coach Jim Wolfe said. “He did a nice job.”

Jefferson senior lefthander Jimmy Reeves also went the distance, striking out six and walking two in a six-hitter.

Davenport hosts Roxbury on Thursday.
