Jackets' baseball streak snapped by Owego

Host Roxbury benefited from three South Kortright errors during a three-run seventh inning that lifted the Rockets to a Delaware League victory.

Sam Nash’s RBI single scored the winning run.

Winning pitcher Eric Shultis struck out 12 and walked three in a four-hitter.

Griff Metzko had eight strikeouts and four walks for SK. Metzko also went 2-for-3 with a double and two runs.

Roxbury’s Chris Clark contributed an RBI triple in the third inning.

The Rockets (3-1, 1-0) will host Margaretville today.

Winning pitcher Matt Anderson took a no-hitter into the sixth inning for Stamford, which cruised to a Delaware League win at home.

Matt VanValkenburgh’s single with two out in the sixth broke up Anderson’s no-hit bid.

Greg Keating (three RBIs), Greg Mattice (two RBIs) and Geoff Mattice had two hits apiece for the Indians (2-1, 1-0), who host South Kortright on Thursday.

Eighth-grader Cole Fancher struck out 10 and walked two over six innings, earning a Delaware League win for Gilboa in his first varsity start.

Hunter Grace went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs for the Wildcats.

Sean VanValkenburg had a pair of doubles and scored two runs, and Mike Smith contributed two singles for Gilboa (1-2, 1-0), which will play a non-leaguer at Hunter-Tannersville today.

Windham starter Aidan Cohane struck out nine over six innings.
