G-MU two-hits Franklin in softball

“We had a couple of double plays and threw out a runner at the plate,” Milford coach Jim Weir said.

Center fielder Dawn Pickwick got the outfield assist, throwing out Vicky Hubbard at home to end the third inning. With runners at the corners and two out in the seventh, Pickwick also caught Taylor Spranger’s deep flyball to right-center field to end the game.

Spranger struck out four, walked two and scattered seven hits for the Dragons, who scored in the first and fifth innings. Spranger gave up a run in the first and two in the third.

Gabby Skillen and Marina Steele (2-for-3) had RBIs in the third for the Wildcats (2-0, 2-0), who host Cherry Valley-Springfield today at Wilber Park in Milford.

Kaity Richvalsky struck out 13 and walked six in a four-hitter, and went 4-for-4 in Richfield Springs’ Tri-Valley League road victory.

Madison Butler and Rebecca Smith had three and two hits, respectively, for the Indians.

Amanda Flint went 2-for-2 for Morris (2-3, 1-3), which will travel to Gilbertsville-Mount Upton on Wednesday.
