Outlaws rained out again

The Daily Star

---- — Staff Report

Poor weather is catching up with the Oneonta Outlaws.

Steady rain Thursday forced the fourth postponement of the New York Collegiate Baseball League season for the Outlaws, whose game at the Syracuse Salt Cats was moved into a road doubleheader that will start at 3 p.m. June 23. Both games will be seven innings.

Oneonta (2-2), which is 1-1 against the Sherrill Silversmiths and split a Wednesday doubleheader at the Salt Cats, has been rained out four times this season. Three of those were games against the Salt Cats earlier this week. The other was the Outlaws’ season opener, which had been scheduled for June 7 at Sherrill.

The Outlaws are set to host the Syracuse Junior Chiefs at 7 tonight at Damaschke Field, although the website is calling for showers and isolated thunderstorms from 4-10 p.m. today.

Oneonta also will host the Geneva Twins at 7 p.m. Saturday. The UPS NASCAR Sprint Cup Simulator Car will be on display from 3-8 p.m. Saturday in front of the Outlaws’ ticket booth. Ticketholders for Saturday’s NYCBL game will have the opportunity to take a test drive inside the simulator car.

Watertown 4, Cooperstown 3

Collin Theroux hit a walkoff single in the bottom of the 10th inning to lead the Watertown Rams to a Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League victory over the Cooperstown Hawkeyes.

Brad Rush’s RBI single for the Rams (2-4) in the eighth tied the score at 3. Cooperstown, which blew a 2-0 advantage, had taken a 3-2 lead in the top of the eighth.

No other information was available at press time.

The Hawkeyes fell into second place in the East Division with their first loss of the season. They trail the Albany Dutchmen (3-0), whose home game against Glens Falls on Thursday was rained out.

Cooperstown (3-1) visits Amsterdam (1-4) at 7:05 tonight.
