Lauren Skolnick won at second singles and teamed with Emily Maggiore for a win at first doubles during Oneonta State’s 7-2 non-conference tennis loss at Union on Thursday.
Skolnick defeated Mina Hsia, 6-3, 5-7, 10-6, in singles.
Skolnick and Maggiore downed Natalia Pronchick and Hsia, 8-4, at first doubles.
Jenna Conklin forced a third-set super tiebreaker at fourth singles for O-State, falling 2-6, 6-4, 10-2, to Kate Collins.
Union (7-4) won the remaining singles matches in straight sets.
O-State (9-11) will travel to Hamilton College on Wednesday.
HONORSECAC honors Hawk
Hartwick sophomore Brittney Dumas earned First Team status on the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Division III Upstate Women’s Basketball team.
Last season, Dumas was named the ECAC’s Rookie of the Year.
Dumas joined Vassar’s Cydni Matsuoka, Ithaca’s Mary Kate Tierney, Plattsburgh’s Kathleen Payne and Rochester’s Loren Wagner on the First Team. Dumas was the only underclassman on the First Team.
Dumas led the Hawks in scoring (16 points per game), rebounding (10.6), field goal percentage (45) and blocks (24).
She scored her college high of 34 points and had 15 rebounds in Hartwick’s 80-77 overtime victory over Baruch in the first round of the NCAA Division III tournament.
Dumas earlier was named to the D3hoops.com All-East Region Second Team and the Empire 8 Conference First Team.
Hartwick duo recognized
Hartwick College sophomore Michaela Davies earned Western Division Defensive Player of the Week honors and teammate Devon Boyle was named the Rookie of the Week by the Collegiate Water Polo Association.
Davies made 39 saves last week as the Hawks went 3-1. She had 19 saves in a 10-6 victory over 18th-ranked Michigan. For the season, she’s made 303, which ranks fifth all-time for one season in Hartwick history.
Boyle was named Rookie of the Week for the fourth time this season. She had three goals, six assists, five steals and four drawn kick-outs.
Hartwick will be seeded third for the CWPA Championships to be held April 25-27 at Bucknell. The Hawks will play the host school in the quarterfinals at 3 p.m. April 25.
