Freshman lifts OHS softball over Norwich

Decker struck out five and walked two. She also benefited from a big defensive play in the sixth inning.

Deposit had a runner on third with one out, when Shelby Pettersen hit a flyball to right. Jenna McDonald caught it and then threw home in time to get the runner for a double play.

Aubrin Smith homered in the fifth inning for Deposit, which received two hits from Pettersen.

Kelsey Decker had two hits and an RBI for the Warriors, who will travel to Unatego on Thursday.

Afton 19, Walton 0

Shawna Stevens went 4-for-4 with three runs and two RBIs for Afton, which cruised to a Midstate Athletic Conference victory at home.

Stevens doubled and tripled for the Crimson Knights (3-1, 3-1), who received two triples and five RBIs from Sierra Palmatier.

Ashley Rogalski went 3-for-3 with two runs and an RBI, helping Cassidy Phillips to the pitching victory. Phillips struck out eight and walked one in a three-hitter.

Afton visits Harpursville today.

Davenport 12, Downsville 10

Ally More drove in the final runs with a one-out double in the top of the seventh as Davenport rallied for a Delaware League victory on the road.

The Wildcats took advantage of a walk and a hit batter to start the inning, setting up More for a two-run double down the left-field line.

“She couldn’t have placed it any better,” said Downsville coach Anne Micelli, whose team lost despite getting a two-hitter from Kaileen Townsend (seven strikeouts, eight walks, two hit batters).

Winning pitcher Jenna Lutz struck out 10, walked one and scattered 11 hits.

Kacie Banker homered, singled and drove in two runs for the Eagles (2-3, 2-1), who got two hits and two RBIs from Leigha LaTourette.

Downsville visits Eldred for a non-league game Thursday.

Roxbury 25, Jefferson 9

Devin Fox homered during Roxbury’s 13-run first inning and the Rockets went on to a Delaware League victory.
