Kyle Hanvey’s inside-the-park home run to lead off the third inning capped the scoring as host Bainbridge-Guilford beat Greene, 3-0, in a Midstate Athletic Conference baseball game.
“He legged it out,” B-G coach Tim Mattingly said of Hanvey, who beat the throw home after sending the ball to center field. “He hit it to the deepest part of our park. It was a shot.”
Sean Jones and Ryan Jones had the other hits for the Bobcats (3-4, 2-3), who received RBIs on fielder’s choices from Lucas Butcher in the first inning and from Dylan Mondore in the second.
Zach Ouimet, a freshman, struck out six and walked six in a three-hitter for his first varsity pitching victory.
“He’s turning into my No. 2 pitcher,” Mattingly said. “He kept the ball low and just pounded the strike zone. He pitched an outstanding game for us.”
B-G plays host Sidney on Friday at Field 6 in Oneonta’s Neahwa Park.
