Orlando and Matt Mastroianni had two hits apiece for O-State. OHS graduate Nate Eastman fell to 0-3 on the mound this season after giving up six earned runs on seven hits in three innings.
Noah Raspler failed to get an out as Oneonta’s starting pitcher in the second game as Brockport (21-12) jumped to a 3-0 lead in the first inning.
Mastroianni hit an RBI single in the third inning for the Red Dragons (11-21), who also got a single from Jon Halligan.
O-State plays a single game at Brockport on Saturday.
SOFTBALLO-State sweeps Bengals
Freshman Sabrina DeAngelis earned pitching victories in both games of a SUNY Athletic Conference doubleheader Friday as Oneonta State swept visiting Buffalo State, 2-0 and 6-1.
DeAngelis struck out four in a two-hitter in the opener, which featured an RBI single in the second inning by Kristyn Neroda and an RBI single in the fifth inning by Traci Lichtenstein.
The Bengals (15-13, 7-7) took a 1-0 lead on DeAngelis in the first inning of the second game, but O-State (23-9, 13-3) responded with two runs in the bottom frame and three more in the second inning.
Lichtenstein’s two-run single in the first gave the Red Dragons the lead for keeps. She also had a two-run single in the second inning, which featured an RBI single by Brianna Rivera.
DeAngelis (13-5) struck out three, walked three and gave up three hits in four innings. Katie O’Flynn followed with two hitless innings of relief before Rachel Hitt secured the victory with a scoreless seventh. Rivera singled in Oneonta’s final run in the fourth.
O-State completes its regular-season SUNYAC schedule with a doubleheader against visiting Fredonia on Saturday. The twinbill will double as a “StrikeOut Cancer” event to support cancer research and education.
