Milford to host tourney Saturday

The Milford Booster Club and the Milford softball team will host their annual softball tournament and chicken barbecue Saturday.

The tournament starts with Worcester against Milford at 11 a.m., followed by Roxbury and Laurens at 1 p.m. The consolation game is set for 3 p.m. and the championship game will start at 5:30 p.m.

Chicken dinner costs $9 and includes chicken, two sides, roll, dessert and drink voucher. Chicken half costs $5.

Derby party, scramble set

The Stamford Golf Course will host a Kentucky Derby Party and Golf Scramble on Saturday.

The two-person, 12-hole scramble begins at 2 p.m.

The party opens with a cocktail hour at 5 p.m., with a buffet dinner to follow at 6 p.m. The Kentucky Derby will start around 6:30 p.m.

Cost is $45 per person and includes the scramble, dinner and Kentucky Derby events. Cost for non-golfers is $16 per person.

Umpires to fight cancer

The local Schohanna Board of Baseball and Softball Umpires will participate in the the fourth annual “Umpires Striking Out Cancer,” which runs May 5-10.

Umpires will donate portion of their game fees to the American Cancer Society and invite all of the local baseball and softball programs to join.

Softball league meets May 6

The 35-and-over softball league will hold a second preseason meeting at 7 p.m. May 6 at Dino’s Bar & Grill.

All teams should have a manager or representative attend as the league will vote on rules for the upcoming season and the schedule will be distributed.
