After the first two batters in the third inning made outs, O-State scored six times.
Consecutive singles by Lichtenstein, Cuevas and Brianna Rivera scored the first run. Nicole Marzillo followed with a two-run double and Kristyn Neroda had an RBI single. Katie O’Gorman then hit an RBI double and scored on a single by Meaghan Foster.
O-State won in walkoff fashion when O’Gorman’s RBI double in the fifth scored Nicole Brieva for its eighth run.
Oneonta High graduate Erin Wolstenholme went 0-for-2 for Cortland, which is 28-15.
O-State opened Saturday with a 4-1 victory over Brockport in a winners’ bracket game.
DeAngelis struck out two and induced 15 groundouts in a five-hitter. One of Brockport’s hits came from Oneonta High graduate Brianna Ferchen.
The Red Dragons had three hits against Brockport but benefited from four errors.
O-State took a 2-0 lead in the second inning, when O’Gorman hit an RBI double.
After Brockport pulled to 2-1 in the fourth, the Red Dragons tacked on two more runs in the sixth. Marzillo’s RBI single capped the scoring.
O’Gorman, Rivera and Cuevas joined DeAngelis on the All-Tournament Team. O’Gorman was 6-for-14, with all six hits going for extra bases. She had a home run in Thursday’s tournament opener, a 12-2 win over New Paltz. O’Gorman drove in a team-high eight runs over the four games.
Rivera had five hits and two RBIs, and Cuevas finished with five hits, including a home run and four RBIs.
Host SUNY Cobleskill was eliminated from North Eastern Athletic Conference Tournament with an 8-1 loss to Keuka College and a 9-0 loss to SUNYIT.
The Fighting Tigers finished their season at 18-10.
In the 8-1 loss to Keuka, Sidney graduate Danielle Gravel scattered seven hits, striking four and walking one to get the victory. Gravel also had a three-run single in the sixth that gave Keuka a 7-1 lead.
