HR in seventh lifts Davenport over Edmeston

Oneonta High senior Brittney Herrick won two events, including a meet record in the high jump, during the Gerry O’Donnell Invitational on Friday at Windsor.

Herrick cleared 5-foot-2 in the high jump.

“She had a really good jumping night,” OHS coach Dan Forbes said of Herrick.

She also won the 100-meter hurdles in a season-best time of 16.95 seconds in helping OHS to a fifth-place finish in the 15-team meet.

Missy Emilio also earned a victory for the Yellowjackets, winning the 800 in a personal-best 2:26.49.

Emilio joined Eliana Fox, Emilia French and Marly Davies on OHS’ 1,600 relay team that finished second in 4:22.85.

Also for the Yellowjackets, Nova Otieno placed second in the shot put with a distance of 33-0 – her personal-best distance.

“It was a really good meet for the girls team,” Forbes said.

Stamford’s 3,200 relay team of Meghan Voorhees, Gabbi Caiazza, Amanda Alberti and Lyndsey Adams won in 11:10.83.

Oneonta’s boys finished a distant second to Susquehanna Valley in the boys meet. The Sabers finished with 146 points. The Yellowjackets had 69.

OHS received victories from Logan Mancuso in the 3,200, from James Longo in the 400 hurdles and from its 1,600 relay.

Mancuso won the 3,200 in 10:11.06. He also had personal-best in the 1,600, finishing third 4:40.76.

The Yellowjackets’ 1,600 relay of Hunter Allen, Longo, Mat Robinson and Skylar Thompson won in 3:42.68.Longo and Robinson finished 1-2 in the 400 hurdles. Longo crossed in 59.49, just ahead of Robinson’s 59.71.

OHS’ Jacob DePauw finished second in the 800, crossing in 2:10.76 to take about four seconds off his personal-best.

Delhi’s Declan Kottmeier won the 3,000 steeplechase in 10:53.97. He also finished third in the 3,2000 in 10:28.46.

The Yellowjackets will host Norwich on Tuesday. The girls from Oneonta and Norwich are both unbeaten.

Rome Invitational

Cooperstown’s Kristin Ratliff broke her school record while finishing third in the 2,000 steeplechase Saturday in the 20-team Rome Invitational.

Ratliff finished third in 7:45.5 to break the record of 7:48.4 she set last season. Cooperstown will travel to Sauquoit Valley on Wednesday for Center State Conference meet that also includes Oriskany and Owen D. Young.

Two-set victories by Aaron Earle-Richardson (second singles), Jonah Herold (third singles) and Boru Jerry Li (fourth singles) helped host Oneonta to a Southern Tier Athletic Conference victory.
