Gilboa sweeps Margaretville
Allison McGuire earned two pitching victories Monday as host Gilboa swept Margaretville, 12-4 and 10-1, in a Delaware League doubleheader.
In the first game, Shelby Oliver and Sinzia Reese hit RBI singles, and Adriana Endaya walked five as Gilboa scored four runs in the fifth inning.
In the second game, Margaretville committed two errors and Hailee Hunter walked five as Gilboa scored 10 runs in the first two innings.
McGuire struck out five and walked one in a two-hitter for Gilboa (11-0, 7-0).
Cooperstown 5, Herkimer 0
Host Cooperstown dropped one game in its Center State Conference sweep of visiting Herkimer on Monday.
Jason Cadwalader and Jacob Russell earned 6-0, 6-0 victories at first and second singles, respectively. The Hawkeyes (8-0, 6-0) also got a forfeit at third singles.
Tyler Bertram and Pierce Snyder took first doubles, 6-0, 6-0, and Lyman Townsend joined Will Cadwalader for a 6-1, 6-0 win at second doubles.
Herkimer fell to 1-6-1 overall and 0-5 in the conference.

Antonio Gomes set a school record in the 400 meters and also won the 200 to lead Downsville to a Tri-Valley League track victory over Davenport/SK, Franklin and Andes on Monday.
Gomes won the 51.1, breaking the school record of 53.8 set by Heath Bowker. He won the 200 in 23.3.
Billy Smith contributed wins in the long jump (17 feet, 1 ½ inches), the triple jump (35-5) and the high jump (5-6).
Blaine Fairchilds of Franklin won the 800 (2:17.2), the 1,600 (5:08.1) and the 3,200 (11:25.4).
Downsville finished with 113 points. Davenport/South Kortright had 50 and Franklin finished with 37.
Franklin won the girls meet with 66 points – 10 better than Downsville. Davenport/SK had 49 and Andes had 40.
Mariah McNeilly placed first in the 1,500 (5:52.8) and the 3,000 (13:05) for Franklin.
