Catherine Johnson took a no-hitter into the seventh inning and finished with 18 strikeouts as host Edmeston cruised in the Tri-Valley League.
“She was actually doing well with catching them with offspeed stuff a lot,” Edmeston coach Ken Plows said of Johnson, who walked five in a two-hitter. “She threw her changeup a lot and worked the outside part of the plate.”
Courtney Hogan broke up Johnson’s no-hitter with a single to right with one out in the seventh. Monica Ridgeway followed with a single to center, but Johnson retired the final two batters.
Sarah Lawrence hit a two-run homer to right-center in the third inning. She finished 2-for-2 with four runs scored. Sydney Smith and Dana Eschler had two hits apiece for the Panthers (9-0, 9-0), who will host Morris today.
