OHS softball downs SCC again

Fox and teammate Stacey Sprague both went 3-for-5 with three RBIs. Jade Meehan finished with three hits and an RBI for the Rockets.

H-T (0-11, 0-7) will host Cairo-Durham on Thursday.

Downsville 19, Stamford 3

Winning pitcher Kaileen Townsend hit a two-run homer to left-center in the second inning and finished with four hits to lead host Downsville in the Delaware League.

Townsend struck out four and walked two in a three-hitter in a game shortened to five innings because of the 15-run mercy rule.

Freshman Kacie Banker contributed three hits and three RBIs, and Leigha LaTourette was 2-for-3 with three RBIs for the Eagles (5-6, 5-3), who will visit Margaretville on Thursday.

Nikki McGrath went 1-for-3 for Stamford.

Unatego 7, UV 4

Torri Halaquist hit a two-run double in the sixth inning to give host Unatego a 5-4 lead and the Spartans tacked on two more runs in the inning to win in the Midstate Athletic Conference.

Sophomore Megan Faulkner struck out three and walked one, allowing one run on four hits over five innings to earn her first varsity victory.

Courtney Bullis, Cassidy Newman and Kali Benedict had two hits apiece for Unatego (6-5, 5-5), which will travel to Harpursville on Friday.

Kaleigh Fairchild and Jackie Smith had two hits apiece for Unadilla Valley.
