Marissa Makar earned First Team honors, and Kiera McNally and Casey Sarle were Second Team choices on the Division III all-Empire Region team for Oneonta State.
Makar, a junior, made the squad as a defender. She led the Red Dragons in groundballs (70) and caused turnovers (47). Through three seasons at O-State, Makar’s 83 caused turnovers are in the top five all-time in school history. She made the all-region team for the second straight season.
McNally, a junior, led O-State with 53 goals. She also had 11 assists. All-time, she has 146 goals and 178 points, numbers that rank seventh in school history.
Sarle, a senior, led O-State with 91 draw controls. She also had 25 goals and four assists. Sarle will graduate as one of two O-State players to surpass 200 draw controls. She finished with 222.
Senior Daniel Stern, and sophomores Connor Coyle and Ben Hylka earned Second Team all-SUNY Athletic Conference recognition for Oneonta State.
Stern, a four-year starter, had 14 goals and a team-leading 13 assists this past season. This marks Stern’s first appearance on the all-conference team.
Over four seasons, Stern had 52 goals and 59 assists.
Coyle led the Red Dragons with 30 goals. He also had four assists.
Hylka played in 14 games and started 13 as a defender. He was second on the team with 11 caused turnovers and had 19 groundballs.
SUNY Cobleskill named freshman Dana Husband its athlete of the week.
Husband cleared 5 feet, 2 1/2 inches to place sixth in the high jump during Saturday’s Purple & Gold Invitational at the University at Albany. That qualified her for the Eastern College Athletic Conference meet.
The Fighting Tigers will compete in the ECAC meet today and Friday at Rensselaer.
