OHS awards night tonight

Oneonta High will host its 68th annual Varsity "O" Athletic Awards Evening at 7 p.m. tonight in the OHS cafeteria.

All varsity teams will be recognized. All athletes and their families are invited to attend.

Special awards include the Male and Female Athletes of the Year and the Anthony C. Drago, Herb Burchell, Carl J. Delberta, E.C. Dutch Damaschke, Cathy Lynch Patron to Athletics and Service and Athletics awards.

A dessert buffet will follow in the cafeteria.

Hall to host blood drive Saturday

The National Baseball Hall of Fame will host a blood drive sponsored by the American Red Cross in conjunction with Bassett Healthcare from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday at Cooper Park, adjacent to the Hall in a Red Cross bloodmobile.

Donors will receive free admission into the Hall of Fame on Saturday. Those who haven't donated blood within the last 56 days are eligible.

The Hall is open from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturday.

Football sign-ups Saturday

Oneonta Youth Football will hold sign-ups from 9-10:30 a.m. Saturday at Oneonta Little League's Doc Knapp Field.

Players must be age 8 by Dec. 1 and cannot turn 13 before Sept. 1. Seventh-graders are not eligible.

Players must bring a copy of their birth certificates and a $25 registration fee to sign-ups.

Practices will begin at the end of August. Games will be played in September and October.

Covered Bridge Run is Saturday

The 19th annual Delhi Covered Bridge Run is set for 9 a.m. Saturday. The event features a 10-kilometer run, a 5K run and a 5K health walk.

Entry forms are online at Entry fee is $20 for those who sign up online and $25 at the race.

Proceeds will fund two scholarships to Delaware County graduating seniors and the Catskill Mountain Club for building hiking trails in Delaware County.
